Eco Factor: Eco friendly vending machines for on-the-move consumers. Japanese consumers do love vending machines and with the Eco movement catching up all parts of the world, it was obvious that someone will come up with the concept of eco friendly vending machines in the country. Coca-Cola Japan has taken the initiative by having developed some of the first stand-out prototypes of eco vending machines. 
The company has launched its newest machine, the Ecoru/Solar, which comes with solar panels on the top. Coco-Cola is installing 1500 units around the country which has about 2.4 million beverage dispensers. The Ecoru/Solar uses energy-efficient LED lighting, as well as a heat pump, HFC-free refrigeration and vacuum installation. Fuji Electric is another company coming up with a green vending machine, which also gets powered by solar energy. However, the machine Fuji Electric is installing is kept insulated in the winters by growing moss on its side. Via: Japan Trends
