Eco Factor: Zero emission Honda S2000 powered by lithium-ion batteries.
Honda S2000 was already a green vehicle courtesy its 4-cylinder fuel-efficient engine. However, like always there was someone who found electricity better than fossil fuel. This sustainability led Brian convert his Honda S2000 to run on an all-electric motor. The internal combustion engine was replaced by an Advanced DC electric motor capable of operating between 72 and 144 volts.
To keep the sporty feel intact, Brian tuned the motor to run on 144 volts. The motor is powered by 45 lithium-ion batteries rated at 160Ah. 30 such batteries are placed in the engine compartment and the remaining 15 in the trunk along with a charge monitoring system.
The Dark Side:
We’re not sure as to how long the batteries would be able to sustain a 144-volt motor operating at top speed. However, the design does prove that it’s easy being green.
