Eco Factor: Low-emission car powered by a hybrid engine.

Land Rover has announced that the company is developing a new Range Rover Sport Hybrid that will emit just 100g/km of CO2 and will have an all-electric range of 20 miles. Five prototypes of the vehicle will be launched next year ahead of a 2012 sales launch.

The Range Rover Sport Hybrid will make use of a 3.0-liter V6 engine, which will work in tandem with a 25KW electric motor. Similar to Toyota’s Prius, the hybrid Range Rover will be able to operate on an all-electric mode as well. The first-generation hybrid vehicle will feature conventional storage systems rather than the ultra-capacitors that the company has been testing.
