Eco Factor: Fuel-efficient car with a hybrid engine.
It seems like the global credit crunch has not stopped car manufacturers from designing extravagant concepts that they hope to bring to mainstream production in the near future. Recently we saw Rinspeed announcing their iChange for the Geneva Auto Show and now we have news from Kia Motors, who wish to bring their newest concept car to the show.
Known as Kia No. 3 (this is what happens when you develop too many concepts), the car is a tall 5-door hatchback that is based on the company’s c’eed platform. The car’s windshield continues till the rear of the car covering all the five passengers that the car is supposed to carry. The car comes with an automatic start-stop system that the company claims can better its mileage by as much as 15%. The company will also show a hybrid version of the c’eed that uses a 1.6L four cylinder engine with a 15kW electric motor. Kia expects the car to average around 50 mpg with 109 grams of CO2 released every kilometer.
The Dark Side:
The 109g/km CO2 emission reading might make it fall under the regulations, but for a greener planet the figure should be brought as close to zero as possible.
