Eco Factor: Eight huts made from discarded wood and found items.

Summer vacations might be picnic time for most kids, but some don’t want to wander around streets planning their next prank. Kids in Maine have found a new job of constructing a new village from found objects. Hutopolis, as the new village has been christened, consists of eight huts that are constructed from salvaged wood and other found items.

The project is in its third year and is to be a permanent settlement, which will be used as a playground year-round. The village has been built by new fewer than 60 children, an average of 32 each day, with ages ranging from 5 to 19.
