We’ve seen a variety of furniture items and gadgets crafted from cardboard. However, the 22nd edition of the Cardboard Boat Race that was held on the Trend Avon River, in Oxford, brought forward another great use of this sustainable material. The race is a family-friendly event that is organized by a group of local volunteers, called the “Boat Bums International.”

The challenge is to build a human-powered boat from corrugated cardboard that can stay afloat long enough to finish the course. Being extremely sensitive to water, many boats sank moments after they touched water.
