Carbon dioxide is considered as one of the biggest culprits in increasing global warming – a serious contributor to climate change. With the burning of fossil fuels carbon dioxide is released hugely. But, with the increasing vehicles across the globe, it will not be a easy task to cut down on it, unless bio-fuel are available in abundance and at cheaper rates.
So, as a better solution, chemists are planning to convert carbon dioxide into a useful fuel, with a little help from the sun! Once successful, greenhouse gas produced by burning fossil fuels can easily be recycled, contributing towards the environment in two ways – recycle the waste gas, and keep the air clean.
The work could also help future Mars missions by generating fuel for their return journey from carbon dioxide in the planet’s atmosphere. Not a bad idea!
