While everyone and their mother have been crying horse about the environmental implication of the wretched Coca Cola can for almost ions now, no one has really thought about the environmental implications of the electricity spent on keeping the iconic Coke vending machines cold in the peak of summers across the globe. The good news is that the cola giants themselves have taken an initiative to go green by replacing over 6,000 of the old dust-bitten power hogs with new, sleek CO2-cooled units that emit around 75% less greenhouse gases as compared to the older model. And since the new venders have proven to be quite successful, Coca Cola have plans to add over 100,000 of these green machines to their kitty of over 10 million vending machines around the world. What’s even better is that the firm has also announced plans to invest over $40 million in research for better, more eco-friendly next-gen refrigerators to further improve the future of the planet. Maybe this will make your hippie aunt hate the big corps less!
