How much energy, time, space and cost is consumed to transport agricultural produce to industrial sites in order to have them processed? This question probably will reveal the wastage that takes place in terms of energy and resources for the long drawn processes in between. The design of the ‘Clover 4’ Project ensures that this wastage is cut out and in the process a green and clean community springs in the vicinity.

Clover 4 is a plan for agro-industrial community that taps into green energy to create a harmonious atmosphere that maximizes produce and minimizes waste. Clover 4’s design sees both the industrial area and the agricultural lands at one place and using techniques such as rainwater harvesting and biogas production, pollution is kept to a minimum.

The design of the entire landscape stretching over 5,000 hectares in the region of Venlo, allows the reduction of wastage by the process of recycling. With systems in place to get the agricultural produce to the corresponding industries in the same region with ease and minimum pollution, carbon footprint is kept as small as possible.

The biogas plant uses waste from the agriculture and manure to generate its own power while the greenery around and water purifying techniques ensure that groundwater replenished and fresh. They community will also tap into wind energy for production of clean energy that will reduce the dependence on grid power.

Clover 4 is a model agro-industrial community that can form as a basis for future clean, green and planet-friendly neighborhoods that profit both the ones involved thanks to self-sustaining structure and the world around as well.
