Clean, efficient diesel-hybrid prototype unveiled in UK

diesel electric hybrid project

Efficient-C prototype of PSA Peugeot Citroen is unveiled recently. It has an ultra-low carbon-emission powertrain. Compared to a standard diesel, this powertrain is 30 percent more economical and cleaner.

The car unveiled in central London, has met the British government’s challenge to develop a both practical and affordable family car with ultra-low carbon emissions. The PSA Peugeot Citroen met the challenge in just three years.

The powertrain of the car has a compact electric motor, which is mounted between the engine and the transmission. This arrangement helps is assisting electrical torque and generating efficient electrical power. It also provides regenerative braking along with full electric vehicle (zero emissions) operation when at low speed.

A version of the small Citroen Berlingo MPV, the car was developed in partnership with Ricardo and QinetiQ – the U.K.-based technology providers. It was launched under the banner Efficient-C.
