With the escalating gas prices, our environment as well as our pockets keeps drowning in this current. In a bid to do our bit for saving our planet, we can swap our fuel guzzling vehicles for the eco-friendly ones like the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered buses. Ideal to reduce the consumption of fuel and energy in the whole transportation system, the DaimlerChrysler Citaro buses underwent a trial run getting its juice from hydrogen only. The Ballard fuel cell engines assist in generating electricity from the hydrogen. The buses are using advanced technology that may be the foundation of a future energy solution. We don’t need to actually write about the pros that go along with the use of such hybrid vehicles….especially for use on a large scale a public transport. Undoubtedly, Hydrogen is a key element in this future strategy for road transport. 
This 30 seater has an estimated capacity of 60-70 people and carry 44 kg of 99.999% pure hydrogen. The Ballard Fuel Cell engine (including fuel cell stacks, radiator modules, cooling modules, and hydrogen diffuser and nine compressed gas cylinders containing hydrogen compressed at 350 bar) are located on the roof of the Citaro bus. The electric motor, transmission, driveshaft and mechanical rear axle are mounted in the rear section of the bus. 
And for convenient refueling intention, BP is constructing a Hydrogen refueling station for the purposes of the trial. The buses will be housed, refueled and maintained by PATH Transit. Only that such technology needs to be more affordable then the threatening gasoline prices. Image
