Eco Factor: Cisco and Living PlanIT to build PlanIT Valley using cutting edge green technology.
Cisco and Living PlanIT have together signed a letter of intent to build a sustainable community in the northern Portuguese municipality of Paredes. Called PlanIT Valley, the sustainable city has been envisioned as an example of a smart connected community which enables economic development, better city management and an improved quality of life for its 200,000 citizens. The building would use latest cutting edge green technology to create a new generation of green field cities in the world.
Under the agreement, Cisco would provide routing and switching, application networking, data center, digital media, mobility, security, storage networking, unified communications, video, virtualization and related services. The real world urban scale example PlanIt Valley is expected to be a greener, more secure and more intelligent community that brings social, economic and environmental sustainability for the residents.
