Charles’ eco-friendly village to use ‘horse-powered kiln’ for making bricks, tiles

for his eco friendly village

Prince Charles seems to be going desperate with his plans for building eco-friendly village. To make bricks and tiles for his village, he plans to import this kiln. Giving himself a break from his likings of traditional building and architecture, the Prince is planning to import this kiln of this medieval-style.

The interesting part of the kiln is that it would be powered by a horse! The horse would be brought from the deepest Transylvania. The resulting bricks and tiles made in an eco-friendly process would be used for Poundbury — his eco-friendly Dorset village.

The traditional kiln is hand-fired and Charles spotted it in the Viscri village. The kiln’s contraption is called ‘Scotch’. It has a huge open chamber, which can fire up to 5,000 bricks and 12,000 tiles at a time.
