Center Parcs: The First Recreational Company to Be Certified ISO14001

3 5261

Center Parcs, a tourist resort based in the Netherlands, is the first organization in the recreational sector to be certified with a BS EN ISO 14001 certification.

The BS EN ISO 14001 was introduced in 1996, it specifies the basic requirements for an environmental management system. The standard is applicable to any organization that wants to:

  • implement, maintain and improve an environmental management system
  • assure itself of its conformance with its own stated environmental policy (those policy commitments of course must be made)
  • demonstrate conformance
  • ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations
  • seek certification of its environmental management system by an external third party organization
  • make a self-determination of conformance

Center Parc, which has revolutionized the hospitality industry is also committed to environment management. This is evident from their brochure which says:

  • No chemicals are used for pest control at any site
  • Water management innovations at various sites include heating of pool water by waste heat, recycling of water park waters using reverse osmosis and use of solar panels to heating launderette water
  • the nature environment which is preserved or created for the enjoyment of human guests has been adopted as a stopping point for migrating birds
  • techniques for natural water purity maintenance are successful enough to support even water-quality sensitive species like a growing family of otters.

Well, the resort wont need an ISO certification to drag you in, as it already has what is required to attract people like ants to a drop of honey but, this is not a drop, its a spillage. The park’s array of attractions include spas, water-parks, bars, aerobics centers, pools, restaurants and a lot of activities for the kids like pony-riding, archery, rafting and ice-skating.

This park has all that is necessary to make you relax and enjoy the heavenly, forest-like and peaceful environment with a variety of recreational activities happening all around. Enjoy!
