Increasing use of energy is an indication of development but it always comes with a price, global warming. However, it is absolutely difficult to stop using energy but an efficient use of energy is always desirable. We all contribute to global warming this way or that but restricting or checking oneself is not enough. We need to have some resourceful entity to take the lead other than the Governments.
Business houses consume the majority of global energy. So apparently, they should be showing more concern towards the problem. They can, through their efforts reduce the rate of global warning for sure.
Recently, Weyerhaeuser had announced that it has plans to reduce greenhouses gas to 40 percent below to 2000 level by the year 2020. On the other hand, Wal-Mart with its 1.3 million workers had announced that it would take efforts that it staffs use energy resources judiciously.
Nevertheless, most often, these companies use these efforts to advertise their companies and they focus more on PR than the real cause. The onus is also on the companies to fight for environment protection and they should come forward to lead the way.
