The Bio Urban Generator signifies an architectural response to the growing environmental crisis that largely involves unsustainable building construction. The skyscraper visualized by CJ Chen Architects reflects urban renewal with its state of art building design and promotes urban food production and environmental conservation.
The multilayered mega skyscraper is a vertical city powered by self-generating energy systems. The double glazed leaf-like cladding of the building façade with integrated with wind turbines that generate electricity by capturing wind around the tower. The vertical wind farm also has thin solar cells to harness solar energy from the sun’s rays, thereby complementing the total energy supply. The skyscraper is equipped with rainwater collection and also gray water and black water recycling systems to ensure portable water supply within the system.
The Bio Urban Generator’s green façade comprises of agricultural terraces meant for vertical farming using hydroponic gardens. This helps promote urban food production and help reduce dependence on rural hinterland for food supplies. The building also houses a variety of commercial, residential and recreational areas that can enrich and transform the host cities.
