Conventional air filters do help in reducing the amount of pollutants that you breathe indoors, but in the process consume a large amount of energy to keep their fans and pumps running. Designed by Ben McGinley, the Aura Organic Air Filtration system is different, as it does keep indoor air quality healthy, but doesn’t consume any electricity for the same.
The conceptual device uses sunlight and plants to remove harmful chemicals and toxins from the air. Plants are naturally equipped to filter chemicals like volatile organic compounds, formaldehydes, benzene and carbon monoxide from the air. The device uses this property to clean indoor air and make it free from any toxins. Plants use sunlight to grow, and are grown in a venture-like pot that directs airflow over the key filtration areas of plants, including their roots.
