Eco Marine Power, a Japan based technology company is all set on course to design the Aquarius Solar and Wind Marine Power System. Basically, the whole section of a watercraft’s sail would be incorporated with minuscule solar modules that can trap solar as well as wind energy; thus the craft is being powered by a totally emission free mechanics.

Working in collaboration with other organizations and shipping firms, the company is earnestly trying to perfect this conveniently green technology, which if successful, would also drastically curtail the need for fossil fuels and conventional energy sources in crafts – starting from small boats to even larger government vessels.

The crucial question that can crop up in relation to this ‘solar sail’ would be its feasibility. Well, the company had already undertaken a detailed study in 2010, which did prove its cost effectiveness if used in conjunction with an advanced obdurate sail design. The whole system would be attuned with the on-board computer system, which can regulate the solar cell imbued rigid sail panels and their positions. The company plans to design the first prototype by 2012 and start a new ‘green’ era in water navigation.
