To overcome the problems of the passengers waiting time for a flight after their security check, the Amsterdam Airport at Netherlands has taken a good initiative. Passengers who clear the passport check at Amsterdam Schipol Airport, can now look forward to a simulated Airport Park.
The “Airport Park” is an out-of-the-box concept that brightens the mundane airport terminal. It is designed as an artificial landscape
complete with rustic furniture and live trees (including one that is over a century old) that give it a natural look. To make the experience
even more real, virtual butterflies are also projected on the ground and animal sounds are played at regular intervals. Passengers can grab a bite at the park’s café that serves organic food and refreshments. Typical recharge stations are placed with energy generating stationery bikes that invite passengers to pedal in order to charge their cell phones. The cherry on the cake is the open outdoor terrace where one can take a relaxed walk and soak in the natural fresh air. On the flip side, passengers can get comfortable at this park hoping for a delay in their flights!
A press release issued by the Schipol airport elaborates that the park aims to recreate the peaceful and serene feeling. That may be a forward looking statement considering this to be a theme park more than the actual one.
