Agripower to generate 300 kilowatts of electricity from trash

Trash is not really useless after all. We have already seen people recycling parts of trash or waste in different ways. A company known as Agripower is working on a portable generator from trash. The production will start from next year.

How does the system work?

The unit comprises of multiple pieces. It has about six pieces as shown in the picture above.

It includes a large feed hopper with a 5 ton capacity, and a high temperature incinerator that vaporizes biomass as it comes in. Besides this, there’s also a heat exchanger and computer operated controls that run the show.

The turbine in the system generates about 300 kilowatts of electricity from the heat that results from the process.

Personally, I think this is a great idea. Just imagine how cool, and of course green, is it to turn all the stuff that you throw away as trash into power.

More on the project:

The first product should be released sometime in April. It will be mostly targeted towards the landfills that are running out of space. Agripower is talking to British and French companies that pay a lot of fees in order to take care of the organic trash.

Besides Agripower, there are other companies working on similar projects. Ze-Gen is testing out the gasification process which will transform demolition debris to power. Yet another company called Renova Engineering is working on a trash generated power system.

So, it seems like all these companies are putting in a lot of effort towards a greener tomorrow. The end of power problem seems too near!
