Eco Factor: Zero-emission boat powered by electricity.
Designed and manufactured by Abra Marine, the curiously named “Sofa Boat” was showcased at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show. The all-electric boat, touted to be a “3.5m floating fun platform” features a sun canopy covering the seating area, joystick steering and a soft-foam bumper to allow easy maneuverability in crowded marinas.
The all-electric zero-emission boat can run for 12 hours on a fully charged battery. The company is also planning to develop a solar-powered version of the Sofa Boat, with will be equipped with seven square meters of solar panels to generate up to 1000W of renewable electric power, enough to propel the boat for up to 10 hours. The basic model of the electric “Sofa Boat” is offered at $16,064 with add-on customization options.
