A electric bike that is powered without a throttle!

izip express

Here is a bike that is more a bicycle but might just travel as fast as your bike when required. While many bikes these days seem to have one common problem, especially those light weight ones without gears & just a simple throttle. These bikes, which are mostly made to appeal to girls, have a throttle that moves just way too easily & lets you reach your top speed a bit too quickly. Now this surely is a problem when such a bike is placed in the hands of those who are new to driving & have no clue about what the pick-up of the bike is.

To solve hopefully all such problems, we have the iZip Express. This is a bicycle that contains an electric motor which intuitively supplies power only when needed. This means that the harder you peddle, the more the motor supplies power & the faster you go. This not only takes away the use of the throttle but also saves a lot of energy that is commonly wasted by most bikes.

The bike is designed by Currie Technologies, one of the pioneers in the electric bicycle business & is scheduled for release in early 2008. The bike is in its last stage of being fine tuned for the launch & some little hassles that persist with the design are being ironed out. If all works out well, then the bike should hit the stores on scheduled date of release with a price tag of around $2000. The best part of the design is that it still looks largely like a bicycle & also does not take away from the work-out that you get from cycling. Yet it adds both speed & some style.
