Farmed organic cod to hit UK market soon

farmed organic codHere is a great news for organic food lovers. The major supermarket chains will soon be supplied with farmed organic cod. And all credit goes to the British company, Johnson Seafarms.

The farm has its operations in the Shetland Islands. It is by next month, it hopes to provide cod that not only tastes fresh and good, but are also produced in a manner that is environment friendly, according to The Telegraph.

As claimed by the managing director of the company, Johnson plans to use only wild fish as brood stock. Thus, all fish sold will only be a generation away from free swimmers. To prevent the farmed fish from escaping, the company designs sea pens with double nets. The sea pens are also provided with small-mesh nets to prevent trapping of birds.
