Richard Feldman, the founder of the Los Angeles-based company began importing biodegradable plates and bowls — composed of 90% sugar-cane pulp and 10% paper — from China last year.

Feldman is also manufacturing clear containers from a corn-based resin. These eco-friendly resins are developed by NatureWorks, food supplier Cargill Inc.’s subsidiary.

Feldman, calling himself a ‘born-again environmentalist’ says,

I’ve spent a career filling landfills. Now, it’s time to reverse that.
