The California-based PowerLight is installing a series of photovoltaic solar power arrays at Las Vegas’ water district sites. The 22.6 million dollar project is claimed to be the largest solar power, installed by a public agency here.
The first installation covers five acres of land at a northwest Las Vegas’ reservoir and pumping station. The Springs Preserve will be getting the last installation, which is expected to begin operating early next year.
Combined, the project will be capable of generating more than three megawatts of power! Depending on seasonal demand, this production is enough to be able to serve up to about 23-hundred homes.
