Now one of India’s northeast state – Mizoram –has thought of an innovative way to meet the region’s energy needs by harnessing energy from its local resources – bamboo! Apart from plans of exploring various renewable energy sources from nature, Mizoram is building an eco-friendly power station that will be fueled by bamboo, the never-been exploited resource for generating fuel.
Mizoram produces 3.2 million tonnes of bamboo annually, and thus will be available in abundance for generating electricity. The Rs.28.50 million power station will be set up in Sairang village.
