Ideally for use on farms and in other large domestic buildings in an environment-friendly way, researchers will be creating the first small-scale biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) system.
Till date, though there are a number of large-scale 100-200kW CHP generators, no domestic-sized small scale CHP powered by biomass was available. The researchers claim it to be the first of its kind developed.
This new project is being carried out at the School of Built Environment at Nottingham University. Once successful and let out for the market, this project will be capable of helping prove the viability of small-scale CHP generation.
