2007 Panasonic World Solar Challenge has brought the University of Calgary Solar Team with its solar-powered car project – they will be building an aeroshell for the car and create an oven to mold the carbon fiber.
Submitting an extensive business proposal, two members of the team and the car traveled to the Youth Environmental Summit in Kananaskis in October. Alberta Environment has granted them $50,000.
The Alberta Environment Minister Guy Boutilier said,
I am extremely impressed by their leadership and dedication to this project.
A large portion of the funds will also be allocated for their preparing for the North American Solar Challenge.
