True, ethanol contributes towards curbing environmental pollutions. But, producing it not that eco-friendly as the consumption of energy for it is huge! The Corn Plus ethanol plant in Winnebago, Minnesota, perhaps thinking on making even the production of the fuel environment-friendly, will be installing two wind turbines to produce about 45% of the electricity the plant consumes.

A combined 4.2 MW of power will be generated by the two wind turbines. The Corn Plus also has an earlier record of being environment-friendly. It installed a fluid-bed reactor for burning biomass that generates steam for running the plant. Thus, it led to the reduction of its natural gas consumption by more than half! It is being developed by the Corn Plus Cooperative, Renewable Energy Solutions and John Deere Wind Energy.
