Galileo Connect, the modular data centre developer is planning to develop a data centre close to the Bank of England printing works. This gigantic plan will cost around £540 million. The key highlight of this data centre is its sustainability.
In Loughton, Essex, approximately three acre is being acquired by the company for construction. Construction will be completed by October 2008 and will cost around £40 million. In Paris, another data centre is being created by the company and will be completed by September 2008. It will costs around £200 million. According to the expansion plan of company, another data center will be opened at Canberra in Australia.
Company is making claims that data center of UK will be greener as compare to other data centers. Size of the data hall will be approximately 1000 sq mtrs having 1500 watts of power density. About 400 cabinets can be accommodated within the data center in the availability of Tier IV power and cooling.
Galileo Connect’s Chief Executive, Julian King stated, “Sustainability is the issue of the day, and it’s a topic that our industry has to take seriously,” he further added, “Our approach is born of over a decade of study in to the architectural, engineering and operational issues involved in the provision and ongoing management of highly resilient data centres. We are confident our new “modular” concept will address this issue and serve the global demand for secure data centres that are environmentally sound.”
