Ewgeco: A comprehensive guide to your energy consumption patterns!

Energy consumption monitors have become such a rave in the past couple of years. People across the planet have started to use them to make sure tat they do not waste energy and also keep their own bills in check. Now the Ewgeco is going to take this concept to a whole new level with its amazingly intelligent and interactive functioning. It is not a large fancy box and neither is it something that will make you cringe about its complicated ways. This simple, cute little box helps you understand and manage your energy needs much better

It works using what sound like a highly sophisticated software program to transfer readings wirelessly from the water and gas meters to the sleek looking monitor that can be placed anywhere in the building. The award-winning Scottish inventor behind the Ewgeco, Tanya Ewing, says the gadget is different from anything else on the market not only because it monitors water and gas consumption as well as electricity, but because it has a personal touch. Instead of just telling you whether you’re brilliant or lame at energy-saving generally, it’ll tell you how good or bad you are in relation to your regular consumption patterns.

For example, with energy, the red bars on the Ewgeco monitor represent 20 per cent of your energy use, which is what the government is trying to get you to reduce,” Ewing explains. So if you hit the red you know you’re not cutting back the 20 per cent the government is encouraging us to do. It takes a week for the Ewgeco to learn how much water, gas and electricity you normally consume. From then on, it’ll light up green, red or amber depending on whether you consume more or less than normal.

The device is sure to catch on but that still has some time to go. The Ewgeco is for now only available for business firms but the makers promise to soon bring it to the customer who wishes to trim down the energy consumption in his own home. So wait for the Ewgeco to arrive. I could do with a better picture with a better look at the gadget and lesser view of the makers teeth though!
