Move over monstrous windmills that tower over most structures around them, inventor Doug Selsam has invented these tiny turbines that pack in quite some power. These wind turbines just measure fourteen to twenty inches in diameter and are meant to be bunched up together to produce electricity. Doug has lined up thirteen of these in a single line and this bank of thirteen turbines produce about 200 watts of power in a 20mph wind.
All this is enabled by using the very strong but light carbon fiber which significantly reduces the turbines weight thus letting it rotate even with the most minuscule of winds. How about plonking in a few of these into the front grilles of today’s cars to power their headlamps and horns? Looking at the frenetic pace of clean technology, all this and more looks very possible.
