Svepa: Eye-catching concept bike for two

009 qBzEP 3858

Svepa is an idea for a bicycle; a bike for urban landscape. It is noticeable for its unique design as much as for what it proposes. Not only does it combine plywood and aluminum in its make (a rare feat in itself) but it also proposes to allow for transportation for two in a very novel way. A single person rides this bike in a normal sitting posture, but if one wants to lug a friend along, the bike becomes a kickboard for two. The rider in front uses the middle frame to kickboard along, and the person at the rear has a footboard and pushes along, using it as a second kickboard. Svepa bike is designed by Pär Blanking – 26-year-old resident of Sweden. Svepa’s design comes across as simplistic and practicable. It has a distinctive flowing make and is remarkable for incorporating a wooden saddle. It is no wonder that the design was awarded 2nd prize at the 12th Annual International Bicycle Design Competition. Svepa is all the more remarkable because its ability to double up as a “tandem” kickboard will make riding all the more fun.
