This is one of the best pieces of news that I have come across out here and that is not so much because it is going to change the green landscape drastically, but simply because it addresses a very fundamental problem and issue that we must tackle head-on and is long overdue. The beaches of the world have been trashed and destroyed by visitors who act as if they are out there only with the simple motive of ruining the experience for everyone who comes to the beach after them. Now the world realizes that it needs to get its act and it is trying to do so with a sense of urgency that is much needed.

Belize’s first eco-friendly resort, designed green from the ground up, is making its way to Maya Beach on the Placencia Peninsula. In fact it will be the first development in the Caribbean designed ‘green’ from inception. . As for going green, the resort has integrated leading edge geothermal, solar, and water filtration technologies, estimated to conserve 1,000 gallons of water per day at full occupancy. With white sandy beaches, turquoise blue waters and the amazing Maya mountains forming the background, a holiday here would really be as close to a trip to heaven as humanly possible.

Interiors are inspired by the rich Caribbean heritage while the resort’s outdoors encapsulates the area’s natural beauty, including a lush rainforest and exotic flora. Designer Julieanne Dobson will create the interiors and intimate outdoor settings with the finest natural materials, including warm woods and natural stone, vibrant contemporary textiles, and niche lit Mayan and African inspired art. This should go amazingly well with the outdoors that already looks stunning and amazing. One surely hopes that the green trend continues across the Windies and the beaches, music and cricket now adds beautiful and clean greenery to it. We need not do much for that to happen though as staying responsible would help immensely.
