Being one of the unfortunate people that have never witnessed the splendor of a Margi Gras parade in its peaked glamour, I have had to satiate my libertine spirit with video footage of the festival so far. But now I and many others like me, have the wonderful opportunity of bringing the glory of the Mardi bling home with these stunning lampshades, chandeliers and wall sconces made from melted beads found at the festival. Created by a team of New Orleans-based recycling artists Mark Kirk and Heather MacFarlane who collectively call themselves Unique Products, the unusual lights and Melted Bead Lampshades incorporate the color and glow of stained glass with the durability of plastic to give off the warmest, festive radiance to any kind of décor.
