Winner of the Grand Prix of the 2008 International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, the CheckTap is an innovative new power management system that allows users to keep a tab on the phantom power being sucked up by the gizmos on standby. Thanks to neat USB link to the comp, the system allows users to optimize the power spent on all peripherals according to the user’s needs.
The system displays feedback on the amount of power used by each additional device and finds the optimal efficiency for the workstation via experimentation while a virtual tree tracks CO2 savings. Designed by Lee Jeong-Soo, from the Korean company Incasolution Ltd, CheckTap effectively allows users to save over 70% on electricity consumption and allows them to not only utilize their workstation accessories optimally but also allows them to contribute to the future of the planet. Watch the video below for a demo of the system.
