Bearing in mind that wood is timeless, you may want to opt for wooden furniture made out of recycled wood….that is wood waste and off-cuts. If you are concerned about the environment, you may not like ending up with pieces of furniture at home made from endangered wood species harvested from illegal logging. Here at Ecofriend we love to see designers using used wood in their products as it’s more beautiful, interesting, and of course more environmentally-friendly than virgin wood. And here’s the Collection of such eco-designer furniture for an eco den by Amy Hunting. Crafted entirely out of factory waste, the pieces were put together to form a wood patchwork with no screws, bolts or anything else before they were made into; a chair, a book box and a series of 12 lamps.
While nothing is special about chair’s form, the book box has built in book stands which allows you to place different sized books randomly in the box without them falling over. The boxes can be stacked on top of each other or hung on the wall. You can flip the boxes and use it on the side, the legs then become additional shelves. The pendant lamps were also cut out of the block until 12 lamps revealed themselves and all the wood had been cut out. Made entirely out of wood they can be hung on any bare lamp bulb through the top of the lamp. Also these lamps can be stacked inside each other for easy transport or stacked on top of each other.
