Electrical bills are a bane of domestic life and the conservation of electrical energy ensures not only the continued survival of our planet, but of your wallet as well! Fortunately EnergyHub, a system of hardware and software elements designed to monitor household electrical usage, comes to the rescue. It gives users the ability to manage peak loads of appliances better and a better understanding of where their money is being spent and on what. The company claims that this combination of information and automation, EnergyHub should theoretically reduce household electrical usage by 20%.
This all looks very good in theory, however I feel it might be a little unwise/unsafe to have computers monitor household electricity consumption. The information part is fine but the automation part is a bit scary. I believe household electricity monitoring isn’t so difficult that you need a computer to help you out with it. The sole requirements would just be the capacity to get up and turn off unused appliances and the common sense to realize wasteful expenditure. With this in mind we’re all set to save the world, but if you can’t manage this I heartily recommend EnergyHub to do it for you.
