Eco Factor: An energy-efficient series of monitors that are both eco-friendly in making and in usage.
The PC industry is racing toward a green path with companies such as ASUS, Lenovo and LG bringing out eco-friendly and energy-saving monitors. Lenovo has introduced their energy-saving series of monitors recently and the lineup looks pretty impressive. The company has launched six models ranging from 17 inches to 24 inches, and the new ThinkVision line is 30-60 percent more energy efficient than the previous ones launched by the company. The ThinkVision L2440x Wide is the flagship of the series and it operates on just 29 watts of power with an LED backlight.
All the monitors are arsenic and mercury free and Lenovo added an extra green touch with the packing on select models being made from 65% recycled material. The monitors will be available across Europe by September 19, and the ThinkVisions offer contrast ratios of up to 1,000:1, 5ms response time and 1,920×1, 200-pixel resolution.
The Dark Side:
The energy efficient monitors still would take up plenty of power and the much hyped stats are just limited to the ThinkVision L2440x model. Many of the remaining models just pretend to be green and are not as eco-friendly as one might come to believe. The price of $239.99 is also not something that would encourage people to rush to the store and go green.
