Eco Factor: Toyota installs the largest solar roof in North America that is sufficient to meet 60 percent of the energy needs for its manufacturing plant.
Toyota has installed North America’s largest solar rooftop on its North America Parts Center manufacturing plant in California, and the new solar roof will help generate 60% of the energy needs of the entire unit. The entire solar roof covers an area of 242,000 square feet and produces 2.3 megawatts of energy. The solar array looks spectacular from a bird’s-eye view and it helps Toyota go green in a huge way. Solar energy and other green energy options are pretty popular in the state of California and it seems Toyota has taken the same path. Not only does it provide the plant with clean energy but would also cut down the carbon emissions by 6.4 million pounds each year. Now, if only Toyota found a better way to make their cars go solar!
The Dark Side:
Investment in clean energy comes with very high initial costs, and this solar roof is no different. But being a stable and secure firm helps it a lot as it is viewed as a profitable long-term investment.
