EcoFactor: A stylish, stable and scorching hot three-wheeled concept bike that uses an electric-gasoline hybrid powertrain to motor along on a clean ride.
The Peugeot HYmotion3 is an amalgamation of the best bike technology in the world today and incorporates a few new green features to go along. The concept bike is being presented at the Paris Motor Show and brings together BMW’s C1, Piaggio’s MP3 and Toyota’s Prius with a new design and more comfort. HYmotion3 uses the safety cage that the C1 sports but extends the facility to even the rider on the back. This makes for a ride that is more convenient and cozy. It uses a hybrid powertrain much like the Prius and gives you an emission-free ride at low speeds using the energy from regenerative braking technology. While it is an all-diesel engine at high speeds, this still cuts out emissions to an extent when you are just cruising at a low pace.
The two-front wheel design might appear to be borrowed from MP3, but they add a lot more stability and turning radius to the bike. The HYmotion3 is powered by a supercharged 125cc engine with 20bhp engine that will give you an excellent pick-up speed. The bike can start at moment’s notice and will shut down immediately when it comes to a halt. This makes sure that you save energy and still have the convenience of making a fast getaway when needed.
The Dark Side:
People will obviously start cribbing about how the hybrid powertrain is mostly useless and will not be able to cut out on a large chunk of carbon emissions. While there is no arguing that this as it is completely true, this should be viewed as a small step forward for now. One day we can hopefully see a production version of HYmotion3 that is all electric!
