Eco Factor: Portable power pack can be recharged using solar energy.
Xantrex has launched their new XPower Portable Powerpack Solar that comes with a 5 Watt detachable solar panel to enhance its run time by 25%. The incorporated solar panel has the ability to recharge the 10Ah battery that delivers 400 watts of power. The device is able to operate appliances such as a blender and a cooler simultaneously, thanks to the inclusion of two 120V AC outlets and one 12V DC outlet. The device also comes with a 3-digit display that indicates when the battery needs to be charged. Apart from keeping the Powerpack in the sun for some charge, users would also be able to change the Powerpack from a standard wall outlet or vehicle DC port.
The Dark Side:
A 5 watt solar panel would take hours or even days to recharge the batteries of the Powerpack. Those who lack that much time will resort to conventional electricity socket for a much quicker recharge.
