Eco Factor: Software that lets you know your home electricity consumption on the web.
Till today you have been accessing the sea of vast information present on the internet through search engines such as Google. And now, Google wants to give you a more useful gift — its new free web service called PowerMeter that’ll let you track your energy consumption in your homes or business. That sounds perplexing, but it deserves a warm welcome if it can do any good to prevent the energy crisis in any way. Google claims that their engineers have developed a software tool called “Google PowerMeter” and are working on more consumer tools. Through this software, users can keep themselves updated with information relating to energy consumption in their respective workplaces. PowerMeter is going through final testing after which it will be available for public use.
The Dark Side: It’s definitely a beneficial feature for users and hardly leaves behind anything for criticism. However, response from the public will decide its fate.
