Eco Factor: Car propelled by a hybrid engine.
Utah-based Raser Technologies has developed a versatile electric SUV, which the company claims can fetch 100 miles from a gallon of fuel. The car will be revealed at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress in Detroit to be held from April 20-23. The car with nearly zero emissions has an estimated operating range of about 40 miles.
The secret behind this high efficiency is still under wraps, but Raser Technologies has stated that their car is propelled solely by a 200Kw electric motor and the four-cylinder combustion engine kicks in to generate electricity to recharge the lithium-ion battery pack. As of now the company has used the E-REV system on a prototype Hummer.
