Eco Motorcycles: Solar Flyer – A DIY bike running on solar energy

Eco Factor: Electric motorcycle powered by photovoltaic cells.

Arizona-based motorcycle fanatic Richard Gryzch has tried to make use of the desert sun to power his already electric ride on clean solar energy, which is in abundance in the area. Known as the Solar Flyer, the bike carries flexible solar cells on every inch of available space and is being claimed to top 90mph with an operating range of 50 miles. The inventor doesn’t give many details, but we think that the bike might take more than a couple of hours to recharge its batteries. For Gryzch there is no stopping here as he is now planning to increase the power and the batteries in a way that his bike can operate for 300 miles on a single charge. Check out the video after the jump.
