Eco Factor: Kinetic energy harnessing prayer wheels could supply renewable energy.
It is believed that spinning a prayer wheel brings wisdom, good karma and also purifies negative energy. Industrial designer Taikkun Yang Li thinks that apart from purifying energy, the prayer wheel can be used to generate more conventional energy which can be used to illuminate a temple after sunset.
The Kinetic Prayer Wheel uses old bicycle parts and other discarded material, which when combined with a used electric motor can generate electricity by harnessing the circular motion. Though the output won’t be much, it can definitely power up a few LEDs to illuminate a temple at night.
