Eco Factor: Revolutionary fuel cell emits a constant supply of electricity.

The skeletal floppy disk covered in tracing paper shown above is a step forward for a green tomorrow, as it has the potential to change our planet. Having already won admiration from former Prime Minister Tony Blair, the fuel cell developed by Ceres Power is now ready to go into production at the end of the year. This fuel cell, powered by gas, releases a steady supply of electricity when fuel is passed over one surface and air over the other. The need of the hour is to go green and I think this fuel cell could become the standard for almost every home.

The trials held for these fuel cells earlier have shown that that they are able to cut household electricity bills by 90% and reduce carbon emissions by half, when installed in a domestic boiler-type device. The economical and truly efficient fuel cell is made in Sussex and the good news is that the company is all set to mass produce the cells.

The production is slated to start at the end of this year in a manufacturing plant in Horsham, which is quite near to Ceres Power’s current base at Denvale Trade Park, Haslett Avenue East, Crawley. The original idea for these fuel cells came from scientists at Imperial College London.
