Eco Factor: Zero-emission proof-of-concept aircraft to be powered by electric engine.

With over 43,000 Skyhawk single-engine airplanes already delivered by Cessna, the company is looking for several improvements in the aircraft, specifically in its propulsion systems. Cessna has announced a partnership with Bye Energy, to design and develop an electric propulsion system for the Cessna 172 proof-of-concept aircraft.

The company stated that the landscape of alternative fuels for general aviation offers significant benefits, but there are several problems as well that need to be answered. Bye Energy is believed to have a good understanding of such challenges and can overcome them. The first flight of the electric aircraft is expected to take place by the end of the year.
