Fact Architects in Amsterdam has clung to the next step in the creativity pedestal while coming up with the blueprints of a student accommodation. The architects have created high quality prefabricated units which when assembled forms a decent student housing structure. The idea for the establishment of Zulderzeewag project conceived in 2010 could answer the rising need for such projects; and so, it seems to be all set to deal with future environmental challenges.
The project design comprises modular pieces which when assembled would ensure standing of a six block building. However, the advantage count does not stop there. The mobility is accompanied with other benefits. The project is flexible and student friendly as it includes all that a student could ask for when planning a stay in student housing structures.
Bordered by green walls, the building has lawns spread across. Taking care of the leisure time of the residence occupants, the design includes an orange sports field. Besides fully catering to the needs of the inhabitant, the architects have incorporated bike-parking area. Lending a creative look, extra outdoor seating space has also been established with the planned use of concrete blocks.
However, Zulderzeewag is not the first of its kind. KeetWonen recycled container student housing, another project initiated in Amsterdam by TempoHousing comparatively scores above Zulderzeewag in certain areas. Though KeetWonen was established even before the inception of ZulderzeeWag took place but KeetWonen appears to be more environmentally sound. Primarily, KeetWonen is made up of shipping containers as compared to high quality modular units. It specifically developed a roof for rainwater harvesting.
Furthermore, in terms of amenities, it touches higher strand than Zulderzeewag. The design not only comprises rooms with balconies but also a cafe, office space, supermarket and sports area. The units are already serviced making electricity, internet and networking systems readily available for students.
When planning to settle for a course in University, looking for a suitable student accommodation can indeed prove to be a nightmare. Fact Architects, with the initiation of the modular student housing project, has solved not only the woes of the students, but that of the University also, given the flexibility and mobility attributes of the project.
