Whenever you hear about these new eco-friendly cars, there is something very sheen about these temptresses that makes them so buyable in spite of their high price. At the right time enters Lotus with its environment friendly concept based sports car Elise, debuting in less than a fortnight at the London Motor Show.
So what makes this car unique in comparison to rest of the ‘green’ cars? Well the new Eco Elise promotes a different perspective, one that doesn’t revolve solely around tailpipe emissions. Built with sustainable materials including hemp, eco wool, sisal and water-based paints, it also has a weight reduction program and a gear change display system integrated into the dashboard.
This promotes greener driving ensuring that gears are changed at the optimum point to reduce emissions and save fuel. Also attached are solar panels on its roof that are used to power ancillary electronic features.
This marvel weighs 32kg less than the standard Elise S and works on the performance through light weight philosophy. Thus the Eco Elise achieves higher fuel economy figures and has better performance than the Sports Elise, pushing forward an example of the advanced and affordable green technologies.
